Make the assignment and method for assessing student work available in a post in your blog.
Millennials are connected more than ever. They are comfortable with communicating online. Yet, dropout rate of online learning is very high. I believe this is because of lack of connection. To be successful an online learning environment must retain students through developing a feeling of connection. Giving feedback is one way we can make students feel connected. It lets the students know that the teacher is invested and cares about the students. There are four characteristics of effective feedback. Feedback should be standards based. The teacher should review the work and explain the learning expectations related to the standards. Second, feedback should be instructional. Teachers can send remediation or enrichment opportunities related to the standards. Third it is positive. There is a different between encouragement and praise. Students should realize that the effort they put into their work is directly effecting their work. Finally, it is also essential to make sure that feedback timely.

The assignment created address three gifted standards. The students will be responsible for creating a visual analogy. This could be a choice product for the standard. The students will have the opportunity to ask questions in a conference room to receive feedback. There will also be a synchronous session where students can get direct feedback. Finally, a rubric that addresses each standard will be used. Please see the attached documents.
